Daniel Calarese is Executive Director of Drug Discovery & Innovation at Sutro Biopharma, where he leads the advancement of next-generation ADC technologies and oncology therapeutics. During more than a decade at Sutro, he has held leadership roles across protein engineering, drug discovery, and innovation strategy, contributing to the progression of multiple ADC programs toward clinical development. His work focuses on leveraging Sutro’s cell-free protein synthesis platform to develop precisely engineered therapeutics, including novel dual-payload ADCs designed to overcome treatment resistance. Dr. Calarese earned his PhD from Scripps Research and has built a distinguished career spanning protein engineering, biologics discovery, and ADC innovation.
