Kelly Shanahan
President METAvivor
Kelly was a successful OB-GYN when she was diagnosed with stage IIB breast cancer in 2008. After undergoing treatment, she returned to practice and continued working until a metastatic recurrence was discovered in 2013, with cancer present throughout her bones. While treatment-related neuropathy ended her clinical career, it inspired a new mission in patient advocacy. She serves in leadership and advisory roles with organizations including METAvivor and the Patient Centered Dosing Initiative. Kelly is a dedicated advocate for increased metastatic breast cancer research and funding, including patient involvement in the design of clinical trials from the earliest stages.
