Marica Speranza

Marica Speranza earned her PhD from the University of Milan, before undertaking postdoctoral training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital /Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. She then joined Dr. Freeman at Dana Farber Cancer Institute/ Harvard Medical School, where she received the Barr Award and worked as junior faculty on immune evasion mechanisms in brain tumors. In 2018, Marica moved to industry and worked as biology and program lead in both TESARO and GSK, before taking the leadership of the Immuno-Oncology & Combinations Boston team.
In her current role at GSK, Marica leads the Innovation Team focusing on next generation of biologics, early pipeline development and business development. With over 15 years of experience in oncology, cancer biology, and immuno-oncology, she has a strong track record of delivering high-quality data and advancing drug candidates to clinical development. Marica has also contributed to multiple patents, publications, and honors in the oncology field.
